Family Camp Activities

Ropes CourseROPES COURSE

Those looking for adventure will find it while participating in the Aspen Grove ropes course. The staff will direct you as you climb forty feet in the air to the top of the rappelling tower and as you experience different challenges among the trees. The Aspen Grove ropes course consists of both high and low course events and initiative games. These are excellent activities for the entire family, because there is a bond of trust developed between all participants. The older age groups will spend one day on the course, and families will be able to participate together at other times. The high ropes course has an age limit of 11 years and older.

Ropes CourseARTS AND CRAFTS

With a beautiful location by the stream, the arts and crafts area offers a cool place to relax while you work on painting, ceramics, pottery, and leatherwork. The arts and crafts program features projects for every age group and skill level. Most projects range in price from $1 to $10, although some larger projects may be higher in price.

SWIMMING POOL

Sports such as tennis, basketball, wallyball, horseshoes, ping-pong, shuffleboard, hi-ball, racquetball, volleyball, miniature golf and softball can all be enjoyed. Equipment for these activities is available at no charge here at Aspen Grove. You are also welcome to bring your own equipment. Sports facilities are available on a first come first serve basis.

HIKES

Stewart Falls: This hike takes you into some of the most beautiful aspen and fern-covered groves in the area. The falls are beautiful and produce a fine cool mist, refreshing exerted trekkers. These falls are located above Sundance Ski Resort, about two miles from Aspen Grove. There are a few fairly steep slopes on the hike, but the effort is very rewarding. Please do not attempt to climb the rock formations around the falls. The rock is slippery and crumbles easily. The hike is a total of four miles and takes approximately 45 minutes one way.

Mt. Timpanogos: This 15-mile round-trip hike takes you through beautiful terrain while ascending to an elevation just short of 12,000 feet. The effort required is great, but the rewards are even greater to those who desire to put forth the effort. Because of snow, this hike is often only available in July and August. Only an experienced hiker with proper hiking boots will enjoy this hike, as it is vigorous and fairly steep. The 15-mile round-trip will take the hiker through much natural terrain, which may pose a threat to the hiker's safety. The hike will pass by springs, waterfalls, streams, snowfields, a lovely natural lake (Emerald Lake), and a large glacier which will give a pilot's view of the huge Utah Valley. We encourage hikers to stay on the trail and observe all rules posted by the U. S. Forest Service. Most children under 12 and adults who are not in condition should not plan on reaching the top. The hike takes most of the day. View Photos
