Almond-Poppy Seed Breakfast Cake


Cake Ingredients: 24 servings:
Flour: 3 cups
Granulated Sugar: 2 1/4 cups
Baking Powder: 1 1/2 tsp.
Salt: 1 1/2 tsp.
Milk: 1 1/2 cups
Vanilla: 1 1/2 tsp.
Eggs: 3
Oil: 1 1/8 cups
Poppy Seeds: 1 ½ T.
Butter Flavor Extract: 1 ½ tsp.
Almond Extract: 1 ½ tsp.

Glaze Ingredients:
Orange Juice: ¼ cup
Granulated Sugar: ¾ cup
Vanilla: ½ tsp.
Butter Flavor Extract: ½ tsp.
Almond Extract: ½ tsp.

A simple sugar glaze can be used also in place of this one by combining powdered sugar and enough milk to create a medium consistency glaze.

Procedure:
Mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, milk, vanilla and eggs. Mix in the vegetable oil, poppy seeds, butter flavoring, and almond flavoring. Beat with an electric mixer for 1 to 2 minutes. Lightly grease 2 loaf pans or 6 small loaf pans. Bake 45-60 minutes in 350 degree oven. To make Orange Glaze, mix together orange juice, sugar, vanilla, butter flavoring, and almond flavoring. Cool loaves for 3 minutes and top with the orange glaze.
